Alaska rule sheet
| Benefit formula | 80% of your spendable weekly wage — gross weekly earnings minus the federal income tax and FICA the Division's tables assume for your marital status and exemptions.[1] |
|---|---|
| Maximum weekly | $1,627.00 a week for injuries Jan 1, 2026 – Dec 31, 2026 [2] |
| Minimum weekly | $358.00. If your spendable weekly wage is below the minimum you get your spendable wage; if it is above the minimum but 80% of it is not, you get the minimum.[2] |
| How the limits are set | Maximum = 120% of the Alaska average weekly wage; minimum = 22% of the maximum. Both are set by bulletin each December for injuries in the next calendar year. |
| Waiting period | No pay for the first 3 days of disability; they are paid back if the disability lasts more than 28 days.[1] |
| How long TTD lasts | During the continuance of the disability; not payable for any period after the date of medical stability. No week cap stated.[1] |
| Partial (TPD) | 80 percent of the difference between pre-injury spendable weekly wages and post-injury wage-earning capacity; not more than five years; not after medical stability.[1] |
| Average weekly wage | Spendable weekly wage at time of injury = gross weekly earnings minus payroll tax deductions. Gross weekly earnings by pay basis: weekly amount; monthly × 12 ÷ 52; yearly ÷ 52; hourly/daily/piece = 1/50 of total wages from all occupations in either of the two calendar years before injury, whichever is most favorable; seasonal/temporary = 1/50 of wages in prior 12 calendar months; concurrent employers combined.[1] |
Worked example, Oct 5, 2026
- Average weekly wage, single, 1 exemption$1,000.00
- Spendable weekly wage after the Division's tax table$835.52
- 80% of spendable wage$668.42
- Inside the $358.00–$1,627.00 band$668.42
- Off work 28 days: 3 waiting days unpaid, 25 days paid$2,387.21
- Alaska TTD per week$668.42
A higher earner at $2,500.00 a week would get $1,524.46. A worker earning $300.00 would get $269.75 (paid at the full wage).

What trips people up in Alaska
- The date of injury (calendar year) determines the max/min used.[3]
- Hourly workers' gross weekly earnings are 1/50 of total wages from all occupations in the more favorable of the two prior calendar years, not recent paychecks.[1]
- Wages from concurrent employers are combined.[1]
- No TTD/PTD for any week in which the worker receives unemployment benefits.[1]
- Recipients living outside Alaska have the rate adjusted by cost-of-living ratio (not below $154/week except as in (a)).[1]
