Workers' Comp Pay Calc

Data

Privacy

Short version: what you type into the calculator stays on your device. We count page events without cookies, and we store a correction message only if you send one.

Updated

Your calculator inputs

Your wage, injury date, filing status, dependents, days off work and any other figure you enter are processed entirely by JavaScript in your browser. They are never sent to our server, never written to a log and never stored in a cookie. When you press "Copy share link", the inputs are placed in the part of the address after the # (the fragment). Browsers do not transmit the fragment to any server, so even a shared link does not reveal those numbers to us — only to the people you share it with.

Anonymous page events

To learn whether the calculator actually helps people, the page sends small first-party events to workerscomppaycalc.com/e: that a page was viewed, that the calculator was used or completed, which state was selected, that a visitor scrolled far down a page, clicked a source link or printed. Each event row holds: the time (server-assigned), the page path without any query string, the event name, a short label such as a state abbreviation, a random identifier generated fresh for each page load (not stored on your device, so it cannot follow you to another visit), the referring site's host name only, a two-letter country code supplied by our hosting network, whether the screen is phone-sized or desktop-sized, the page type, and a coarse traffic-source category (for example "search" or "direct").

We do not store your IP address, your browser's user-agent string, cookies, device fingerprints, the full referring URL, or any calculator value. Requests that identify themselves as automated (crawlers, monitoring tools) are discarded before anything is stored. Events are kept in a database operated by our hosting provider, Cloudflare, and are used only in aggregate to improve the tool.

Corrections you send

If you use the corrections form, we store what you chose to send: the page it concerns, the kind of problem, your message, and the reply address only if you typed one. We store the time and date, but not your IP address or browser details. We use a reply address only to answer that report, never for marketing, and we delete correction records that no longer serve a purpose.

What we do not do

Hosting and security logs

The site is served by Cloudflare. Like any network provider, Cloudflare processes connection data (including IP addresses) transiently to deliver pages and stop attacks, under its own privacy policy; we do not receive or keep those logs in our analytics tables.

Questions or deletion requests

Because event rows hold no identifier tied to you, there is nothing that can be looked up "by person". If you sent a correction with a reply address and want it deleted, send a new message through the contact form naming the page and the approximate date, and we will remove it.
